Wana
Founded in 2010 by Nancy Whiteman and her then-husband John in Boulder, Colorado, Wana started with a $50,000-$60,000 bootstrap investment when edibles only made up 10-15% of dispensary sales. Today, Wana is North America's #1 edibles brand, generating nearly $300 million in annual sales across more than 3,000 stores in 17 states, Puerto Rico, and nine Canadian provinces. In October 2024, Canopy Growth finalized its acquisition of Wana through Canopy USA after a three-year process that began with a $279 million deal announced in 2021. The company recently underwent a leadership transition, with founder Nancy Whiteman stepping down as CEO in May 2024 to focus on philanthropy, while Joe Hodas took over as president to lead the brand's continued expansion.
